Week 6: Career Evidence Capstone

6th Six Weeks | 5 class periods | flexible 50-minute sequence

6th Six Weeks | 5 class periods | flexible 50-minute sequence

Weekly Target

Students recover one missing or uncertain piece of evidence, update a flexible career plan, communicate the plan in a concise oral/AAC career-and-college brief using appropriate technology, revise from feedback, and choose a realistic next action.

TEKS Evidence

  • d(8)(A): select a current career pathway or direction related to the student's evidence, with a flexible alternative.
  • d(8)(B): document current high-school courses or enrollment actions and postsecondary/training requirements, with unresolved questions labeled.
  • d(8)(C): write an individual plan for starting a career after high school and any postsecondary education.
  • d(4)(C): give an oral professional presentation about career and college exploration using appropriate technology.

Structure

The capstone is one evolving evidence record, not five separate portfolios. Day 1 identifies what is ready and recovers one gap. Day 2 creates the four-page career plan. Day 3 prepares the oral/AAC brief. Day 4 communicates and revises the evidence. Day 5 closes the course with a two-page transfer reflection. The Day 2 plan stays where the student first submits or turns it in; Day 4 does not require a duplicate upload.

Missing prior evidence triggers a documented recovery route using a supplied source, teacher/counselor/staff conference, prior Canvas work, or supervised platform catch-up. A missing old workbook page, family interview, H&L login, partner, camera, or public-presentation route does not erase current learning.

Week at a Glance

Day Focus Durable evidence Canvas interaction

2 Individual career plan Four-page career plan Private practice Assignment; retained for Major 2 scoring
3 Oral/AAC brief and rehearsal Two-page presentation/rehearsal plan Private practice Assignment
4 Communicated capstone and revision Oral/AAC evidence plus two-page delivery/revision record and rubric Private Major 2 Assignment
5 Reflection and transfer Two-page final reflection and next-action plan Private practice Assignment

Grading and Access

The student-visible 24-point evidence profile is Major 2 in the 6SW assessment map. The teacher scores the Day 2 career plan from its original location and the Day 4 communicated evidence, delivery/revision record, and self-score from the mapped Major. Students do not resubmit the Day 2 plan.

Oral/AAC evidence may be live, small group, teacher conference, private audio/video, or an authorized accommodation-aligned route using appropriate technology. A written outline may scaffold the evidence but does not by itself demonstrate d(4)(C). Accent, eye contact, disability, camera use, clothing/style, visual polish, public confidence, and English mechanics are not scored unless meaning is unclear.

Licensed and Supplemental Sources

FYF Capstone pp. 277-280 and 297-300 are locked Canvas orientation and reflection supports. Students use the custom evidence record because the capstone must remain completable after absence or lost prior work. H&L Career Plan, Xello profile evidence, and earlier course artifacts may supply evidence but are not required completion routes. No new Xello or eDynamic task is assigned in this week.

End-of-Year Flexibility

If the calendar compresses, preserve Day 1 recovery, the Day 2 career plan, one private Day 4 oral/AAC communication and revision route, and the Day 5 next-action reflection. Combine Days 3-4 or schedule private recordings; cut celebration and decorative production first.
