Status: Approved curriculum placement; Canvas assignment-group setup and SIS verification still required.

This is the coursewide source of truth for graded work. A polished weekly product is not automatically a grade. Only the assessments listed below receive points. Everything else remains formative, practice, enrichment, or a teacher-approved recovery/replacement artifact.

Gradebook Structure

  • Minor Assessments: 40% — three equally weighted entries per six weeks.
  • Major Assessments: 60% — two equally weighted entries per six weeks.
  • Set every listed Canvas Assignment to 100 gradebook points after converting its student-visible rubric score to a percentage. This keeps a 12-point rubric from counting less than a 16-point rubric simply because the raw scales differ.
  • Keep practice Quizzes, daily tickets, discussions, platform clicks, peer feedback, and optional enrichment at 0 points / ungraded.
  • Do not publish a graded Assignment until its rubric, answer guidance, absence route, and correct Minor or Major assignment group are attached.

Performance Bands and Entry Rule

Convert each rubric total to the published percentage table on that scoring tool, then enter the percentage as the score out of 100 in Canvas:

  • Masters: 90–100
  • Meets: 80–89
  • Approaches: 70–79
  • Needs Improvement: 60–69
  • Below 60: follow campus policy for insufficient evidence, reassessment, or recovery.

Do not average rubric levels and silently treat a level 3 as 75 unless the scoring tool explicitly publishes that conversion. Students must see the rubric and conversion before the graded task.

Canvas Setup Gate

Before any mapped assessment is published:

  1. Create or verify Minor Assessments at 40% and Major Assessments at 60%.
  2. Put only the five mapped assessments for that six weeks into those groups.
  3. Set each mapped Assignment to 100 points and attach the correct rubric.
  4. Keep all other interactions ungraded unless a teacher intentionally uses the documented recovery/replacement route.
  5. Test one student-view submission route and one absence/platform fallback.
  6. Confirm that hidden teacher keys and licensed files remain unavailable to students unless intentionally released.
