Daily Learning Contract

  • Topic: Career Plan
  • Objective: Students will select a career pathway or direction, document high-school and postsecondary or training requirements, and write an individual plan for starting the career after high school and any postsecondary education.
  • TEKS: d(8)(A), d(8)(B), d(8)(C)
  • Demonstration of Learning: Four-page individual career plan with current evidence, source limits, route questions, three actions, support, and backup.

50-Minute Flow

  1. Model - 5 min. Show how a current plan can be specific without becoming a forever promise.
  2. Current direction - 8 min. Students connect self evidence to a direction, alternative, and career task.
  3. Preparation and labor evidence - 10 min. Students label amount or trend, measure, geography, date, source, and limitation.
  4. High school and training route - 10 min. Students separate a current verified label from a course, application, cost, time, or transportation question that still needs confirmation.
  5. Action plan - 12 min. Students write three actions, dates, an obstacle, a backup, and a support request.
  6. Exit - 5 min. State the strongest evidence and the most important uncertainty.

Key and Access

Check the evidence basis rather than the student's career preference. A national median is not local starting pay, a pathway label is not an admission guarantee, and a projected trend is not a personal outcome. Students may type, dictate, annotate, use enlarged print, or use paper. Keep the four-page plan in its original Canvas or labeled-paper location for Major 2 scoring; students will not upload it again on Day 4.
