TEKS Alignment

  • d(1)(B): describe the Education and Training cluster (Day 1; reassessed Day 5).
  • d(1)(C): identify career opportunities and work products (Days 1, 3, 5).
  • d(2)(A): research accurate academic, certification, and training requirements (Days 2, 3, 5).
  • d(2)(B): evaluate educational and training options with provider-specific limits (Days 2 and 5).
  • d(4)(E): explain the value of community service and volunteerism (Day 4; reassessed Day 5).

Current Evidence Boundaries

  • Current TEA guidance describes five common requirements for most Texas classroom-teacher certificates: accredited bachelor's degree, approved educator preparation program, appropriate exams, state application, and fingerprinting/background review. Specific certificates and preparation routes vary.
  • “Traditional” and “alternative” are not complete price, time, paid-status, or quality labels. Students compare verified statewide requirements and identify what must be checked with an approved provider.
  • Educational Aide I has specific age, course, grade, credit, district-verification, application, and background-review conditions. A pathway name does not guarantee a credential.
  • Current Irving public evidence names Education and Training at Irving High, MacArthur, and Nimitz, and Early Childhood Education at Cardwell. The public page does not by itself guarantee schedule, travel, admission, placement, or certification.
  • Supplied job-posting cards are fictional practice records based on common employer fields. They teach how to read evidence without depending on a changing job board or exposing an assessment to search variance.
  • H&L browsing, Xello Discover learning pathways, and eDynamic 7.2 may be used as supplemental extensions. No new required Grade 8 Xello completion task belongs here, and no platform click is graded.

Materials

  • Canvas Teacher and Student Guides
  • Find Your Future licensed pages 213-219 embedded in authenticated Canvas; p. 220 remains an optional H&L extension
  • five compact companions plus one student-visible rubric, thirteen pages total if every paper route is used
  • Chromebooks or printed packets; pencils; optional markers
  • teacher-approved scissors and paper only for the Day 4 physical test; a tabletop or written simulation is equal

Assessment and Grading

Days 1-4 create visible formative evidence. Day 5 is Minor 1 in the 6SW assessment map. Keep it unpublished until the Canvas review gate passes. The rubric uses Masters, Meets, Approaches, Needs Improvement, and Insufficient Evidence. Preference, artistic polish, handwriting, English mechanics, platform access, and willingness to disclose personal service are not scored.

Access and Absence Route

Every required direction and source is visible in Canvas. Students may annotate, type labeled responses, upload a document, dictate, use enlarged print, or complete paper. Partner work has an individual or teacher-conference route. Required multi-sentence responses have full-width writing space; tables hold only labels or short comparisons. Licensed imagery remains in locked Canvas and is not required to understand the directions.
