Daily Learning Contract
- Topic: Career Evidence
- Objective: Students will synthesize career, preparation, job-posting, learning-design, and service evidence to justify an Education and Training direction and next action.
- TEKS: d(1)(B), d(1)(C), d(2)(A), d(2)(B), d(4)(E)
- Demonstration of Learning: three-page Education Career Evidence Portfolio plus a visible one-page 16-point rubric.
Target and Evidence
TEKS: d(1)(B), d(1)(C), d(2)(A), d(2)(B), d(4)(E) Evidence: three-page Education Career Evidence Portfolio plus a visible one-page 16-point rubric
Students use the week's evidence to explain one current direction, preparation boundary, posting fact, design revision, service connection, limitation, and next action.
Before Class
- Open the current Irving High School CTE page and licensed FYF pp. 218-219. Keep p. 220 H&L exploration optional.
- Default: one device per student, one projector, zero prints. Post the three-page portfolio, one-page rubric, and private Minor 1 Assignment.
- Paper route: one three-page portfolio and one one-page landscape rubric per student, plus one collection tray.
- Have students retrieve the CCE Six-Weeks Evidence Log from the paper CCE binder or teacher-designated digital folder. Do not attach the log to Minor 1 or print a second copy by default.
- Keep the assignment unpublished until the Canvas review gate passes.
50-Minute Flow
- Current local evidence — 7 min. Irving currently names Education and Training at Irving High, MacArthur, and Nimitz, and Early Childhood Education at Cardwell. Separate public listing from guarantees about courses, credentials, travel, admission, or placement.
- Workbook/current comparison — 5 min. Treat the FYF district pages as curriculum context and identify what must be verified now.
- Assemble evidence — 21 min. Students complete the three-page portfolio using Days 1-4 or the fixed missing-work strip in Canvas. Short source fields accept phrases; reasoning has dedicated full-width space.
- Self-score and revise — 10 min. Students use all four rubric criteria and make one visible repair.
- Submit, transfer Entry 6, and clean up — 7 min. Submit one private portfolio. During the final 2-3 minutes, copy five short portfolio phrases into the student-kept Evidence Log, then return materials.
Evidence Log Entry 6
Complete the portfolio and its visible revision first. Then copy these short phrases into Entry 6:
- Artifact or task: Education Career Evidence Portfolio
- Transferable skill: one skill the student used
- Evidence: one visible action from the student's strongest portfolio evidence
- Revision or recovery move: the visible revision
- Next step: the next action in the portfolio conclusion
The paper log returns to the CCE binder. The digital log stays in the teacher-designated folder. Entry 6 is not part of Minor 1, is not uploaded, and is not scored. This early 6SW transfer gives the later resume and interview lessons an evidence source without requiring another submission.
Monitor and Key
- Minute 10: every student has prior evidence or the fixed missing-work strip plus one source/date boundary.
- Minute 25: preparation/posting and design/revision/service evidence are visible. If one-third writes preference only, project the supplied complete model strip.
- Minute 38: the conclusion uses four evidence types, one limit, and one specific next action. Labeled bullets are acceptable; do not cut a rubric job.
- Minute 45: all four self-scores and one visible revision are complete.
- Minute 48: the portfolio is submitted and five short phrases are saved in Entry 6 or the named fallback location.
- Trim sharing and workbook rereading first. Protect every rubric criterion, revision, private submission, short Entry 6 transfer, and cleanup. Use the same portfolio in a scheduled recovery window; do not add a second packet.
Platform and Sequence Boundary
No new required Grade 8 Xello task belongs in this week. Discover learning pathways, H&L favorites, and eDynamic 7.2 are optional extensions only after required evidence is complete and the teacher has verified current access/content. Paper or fixed Canvas evidence is the complete absence route; do not create false platform completion.
If the Evidence Log is unavailable, the student writes these five labels and short phrases in the CCE notebook or teacher-designated digital folder: artifact/task, skill, visible action, revision/recovery, next step. The student transfers the phrases when the log returns. Do not collect this fallback, ask the student to reconstruct old work, or create another submission.
