Daily Learning Contract
- Topic: Career Preparation
- Objective: Students will describe common Texas classroom-teacher requirements, compare two preparation patterns, and identify provider evidence needed before choosing a route.
- TEKS: d(2)(A), d(2)(B)
- Demonstration of Learning: three-page Texas Education Career Routes comparison and evidence-based recommendation.
Target and Evidence
TEKS: d(2)(A), d(2)(B) Evidence: three-page Texas Education Career Routes comparison and evidence-based recommendation
Students separate statewide certification requirements from provider-specific details and compare a university-based route with a post-baccalaureate or alternative route.
Before Class
- Open the current TEA teacher and Educational Aide pages.
- Default: one device per student, one projector, zero prints. Post the three-page route guide and private annotation Assignment.
- Paper route: one three-page guide per student and one collection tray. Students use either paper or Canvas, not both.
- Do not present a named preparation provider's cost, length, paid status, or quality without current provider evidence.
50-Minute Flow
- Warm-up — 5 min. Which facts would you need before choosing a preparation program?
- Five common requirements — 10 min. Model degree, approved EPP, exams, application, and fingerprinting/background review. Note CTE exceptions.
- Two route records — 14 min. Students distinguish what is verified statewide from what varies by provider.
- Educational Aide I + Irving boundary — 8 min. Students record two conditions and one counselor/CTE question.
- Fictional Jordan decision — 8 min. Recommend what Jordan should compare; do not score route preference.
- Exit — 5 min. One statewide requirement, one provider-variable fact, and one question before enrollment.
Monitor and Key
- Minute 13: students can name two common requirements and mark one provider-variable field. If one-third treats a route label as proof, sort four statements together.
- Minute 29: Educational Aide evidence includes age 18+, course/credit/grade conditions, superintendent verification, and the application/background-review boundary without promising certification.
- Minute 42: Jordan's response names three exact provider facts. Accept “cannot decide yet” when the missing evidence is named.
- Trim sharing first. Protect the statewide/provider distinction, Educational Aide boundary, recommendation, submission, and cleanup.
Access, Absence, and Platform Route
All required evidence is in the packet. Browser research, H&L, Xello, eDynamic, applications, provider contact forms, personal data, and payment are not required.
