Day 3: BrainBoost Rescue and Career Oral Outline

Students will identify how a sales, marketing, or design career uses evidence to define a campaign problem, screen solutions, and organize a bounded career brief.

Daily Learning Contract

  • Topic: Problem Solving
  • Objective: Students will identify how a sales, marketing, or design career uses evidence to define a campaign problem, screen solutions, and organize a bounded career brief.
  • TEKS: d(1)(C), d(4)(B)

TEKS: d(1)(C), d(4)(B) Evidence: FYF BrainBoost work plus individual cause/evidence, career outline, and transfer evidence

Before Class

Per student, have FYF pp. 244-247, a pencil, and one two-page companion by private Canvas annotation or print. Project both supplied models. Cause/evidence: “Result: sales are low. Evidence: students say the snack looks like other snacks and the reason to try it is unclear. Possible cause: the campaign does not communicate a distinct value.” Career outline: “Market research analysts study consumer preferences. A bachelor's degree is typical. BLS reports a $76,950 May 2024 U.S. median and 7% projected growth for 2024-34. Those measures are not DFW starting pay or a guarantee.” Sticky notes are optional. The three fixed career cards remove prior-research and login dependencies.

50-Minute Flow

  1. Problem-versus-result warm-up - 5 min. Low sales are a result; unclear value is a possible cause supported by supplied feedback.
  2. Analyze evidence - 8 min. Review FYF pp. 244-245: message, visuals, audience, and three customer comments.
  3. Generate/screen solutions - 10 min. Use FYF p. 246; reject invented health, nutrition, discount, scarcity, popularity, or data claims.
  4. Build the rescue - 10 min. Complete FYF p. 247 and record the individual cause/evidence decision in the companion.
  5. Select career evidence - 7 min. Prior verified evidence or fixed BLS fallback; keep measure/date/geography visible.
  6. Outline oral brief - 7 min. Opening, duty, preparation, labor evidence, bounded conclusion.
  7. Exit - 3 min. Name one transfer from campaign problem solving to the selected career.

Key and Trim Point

At minute 13, students should distinguish the low-sales result from a message/value cause. If one-third blame the audience, reread the supplied reach fact and comments. At minute 31, require the selected solution to answer exact evidence without adding a claim. At minute 44, require duty, preparation, measure, geography/date, and limitation in one outline. BrainBoost reached its stated audience; the issue is weak differentiation/need/message. Trim campaign-sketch polish first and provide the fixed career card; preserve cause/evidence, rejected claim, transfer, and outline. Collect the companion.

Absence and Access

The locked FYF images plus the two-page companion are the complete no-workbook route. Students may work independently; no partner, H&L, prior portfolio, or open-web search is required.
