Day 2: Deliver, Test, and Revise a Sales Pitch

Students will communicate an audience-specific pitch twice, use feedback to make one visible revision, and explain how the communication skill transfers to a second career.

Daily Learning Contract

  • Topic: Oral Revision
  • Objective: Students will communicate an audience-specific pitch twice, use feedback to make one visible revision, and explain how the communication skill transfers to a second career.
  • TEKS: d(4)(B)
  • Demonstration of Learning: Two timed oral/AAC pitch attempts, one specific feedback point, a visible before/after revision, and a two-career transfer response.

TEKS: d(4)(B) Evidence: two timed oral/AAC attempts, specific feedback, visible revision, and two-career transfer

Before Class

Per student, have the Day 1 pitch, a pencil, and one two-page delivery record by private Canvas annotation or print. One timer serves the class. Set live partner, small-group, teacher-conference, recorded audio/video, and AAC routes before class. Project this before-feedback-after model: Before: “Sign up now.” Feedback: the next step is vague. After: “Compare the two fictional session options and circle the one that fits your schedule.” Effect: the audience knows the safe next action. Recorded students upload the written record and private audio/video together. Live, conference, and AAC students submit the written record while the teacher records student, date, route, both attempt times, feedback/revision, and oral/AAC completion. Do not make partner attendance or camera use a requirement.

50-Minute Flow

  1. Delivery model - 5 min. Demonstrate understandable pace, organization, and a safe call to action.
  2. Silent accuracy check - 5 min. Students remove unsupported urgency, guarantees, health, popularity, or income claims.
  3. First delivery - 10 min. Record route, time, and evidence.
  4. Feedback - 8 min. Partner, teacher, self-recording, transcript, or checklist identifies one strength and one specific revision.
  5. Revise - 10 min. Preserve before/after language and reason.
  6. Second delivery - 7 min. Apply the revision and record time/effect.
  7. Exit - 5 min. Name transferable communication evidence and next goal.

Key and Trim Point

At minute 15, check Attempt 1 time and one exact strength. If one-third give trait feedback, return to the before-feedback-after model. At minute 31, require visible before/after language and a reason tied to audience need. At minute 44, check Attempt 2 time, effect, and transfer. Do not score accent, eye contact, camera use, confidence, or memorization. Trim class share-outs first; preserve the second attempt and visible revision. Collect one record.

Absence and Access

Students may complete a teacher conference, private recording, or AAC attempt later. A written draft alone is not mislabeled oral evidence unless an accommodation changes the task.
