Daily Learning Contract
- Topic: Job Search
- Objective: Students will identify and apply the steps of an effective job search by sequencing a safe search cycle, screening a fictional posting, and selecting an authorized next action.
- TEKS: d(6)(A)
- Demonstration of Learning: Two-page job-search and posting-screen decision record.
Before Class
Post the Student Annotation and the two-page record. Default printing is zero. Display the seven-step strip and confirm that the Pecan Creek posting is fictional, not a vacancy.
50-Minute Flow
- Bellringer - 5 min. Put seven job-search actions in a first-draft order. Students mark one step they are unsure about.
- Model the cycle - 8 min. Target, prepare, search, screen, track, tailor/apply, follow up. Emphasize that screening occurs before personal data or contact.
- Notice and label - 10 min. Read the fixed posting. Mark job duties, qualifications, evidence limits, and facts that would require verification in a real search.
- Posting screen - 17 min. Students identify two truthful matches, one honest gap, two verification checks, and the authorized next action.
- Turn and talk - 5 min. Partners compare one match and one risk. Students revise their own record.
- Exit - 5 min. Name the search step most likely to be skipped and the consequence.
Monitor, Key, and Trim Point
Full evidence puts the seven actions in a defensible order, distinguishes a posting from independent employer verification, uses two supplied matches, keeps one gap visible, and chooses a safe next action. A job-board result is a lead, not proof. Trim the optional partner share before reducing the individual screen.
Supports and Access
Keep posting/oferta de empleo, screen/revisar, verify/verificar, evidence/evidencia, and authorized/autorizado visible beside the posting screen. Use the frame: “I would verify [detail] through [official or known route] before [action].” Students may type, annotate, dictate, use enlarged print, or use paper. A live job board, H&L, FYF Rung 5, employer contact, account, or personal data is not required.
