Canvas is authoritative. This page records the build logic and is not a teacher delivery surface.
Week target
Students compare veterinary careers with dated evidence, apply observation and prioritization in a fictional triage simulation without diagnosing, complete the required Xello Skills lesson, and build a pathway recommendation using the district workbook and career evidence.
Canvas sequence
| Day | Focus | Durable evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Meet the Veterinary Team | One career choice supported by daily-work and preparation evidence |
| 2 | Compare Veterinary Career Paths | Three-role comparison and evidence-based recommendation |
| 3 | Veterinary Triage | FYF p. 99 notes for Leo and Barnaby, a two-observation defense, and an ungraded retryable Canvas quiz |
| 4 | Xello Skills | Completion Standards report plus private two-career transfer reflection |
| 5 | Veterinary Pathway Recommendation | Career route, FYF pathway evidence, high-school/postsecondary transition, and student-visible 16-point rubric check |
Every day has a paired unpublished Teacher Facilitator Guide and Student Guide. Licensed workbook and Xello visuals remain in locked Canvas folders. Day subheaders keep the module chronological and easy to scan.
Source and safety boundaries
- Salary evidence uses one basis: May 2024 U.S. medians from BLS. It is not starting pay or a guarantee.
- FYF pp. 100-101 are the primary local pathway source for students. The public Nimitz page is teacher background for current-detail questions and does not replace a workbook answer.
- H&L is optional enrichment, not required evidence.
- Xello Skills is the required task for this placement: 35 minutes with at least three saved careers as the prerequisite.
- Triage is fictional. Students observe, compare, prioritize, and report; a veterinarian diagnoses and treats.
- Student profile screenshots and public assessment-result sharing are not required.
Grading recommendation
Use the Day 2 comparison, Day 3 triage reasoning, and Day 5 pathway recommendation as one 16-point minor evidence packet. Day 1 and Day 4 checks are formative. Canvas quiz attempts and Xello clicks are not separate grades.
Accessibility and worksheet-space rule
Required directions remain visible. Optional vocabulary and fallback information may use disclosures. Typed, written, dictated, and teacher-scribed evidence are equal when documented. Every printable is rendered and checked so the writing space matches the requested response. FYF p. 99 is the default triage writing surface; the custom triage record is an optional structured scaffold or absence route.
