Team of 6 · Individual tests and team meeting
Chapter Team
Your team will demonstrate how to run a formal TSA meeting.
What you make or do
- Prepare for a test on parliamentary procedure, the rules used to conduct a meeting.
- If you advance, conduct a meeting with opening and closing ceremonies, assigned business, parliamentary actions, and written minutes.
This year’s challenge
No separate annual theme is posted. The challenge is to apply TSA meeting procedures to business supplied at the event.
How the competition works
Before the event
Study parliamentary procedure and rehearse the six officer roles together. Each team member needs a laptop for the online test; team members do not have to be elected chapter officers.
First round
All six members take the one-hour test individually at the same session. The team ranking uses their average score.
If you advance
Run a meeting using the materials and three parliamentary actions provided on site. The fifteen-minute allowance includes setup; the secretary receives five additional minutes to finish the meeting minutes.
Know before you choose: The same six members must compete in both rounds. Meeting minutes are a required written product of the semifinal demonstration.
How your work is scored
The test contributes to the score. Judges also assess the ceremonies, voting, debate, parliamentary actions, communication, treasurer's report, and meeting minutes.
