My competition notes
Find out what one competition asks you to do and what earns points. Then decide whether it interests you.
- Choose one event from the explorer. You can change your mind after learning more about it.
- Download the event guide and its rubric or score sheet from the event page. Check the current theme and rule updates too.
- Make a copy in Google Docs. Complete your own copy for your chosen event.
- Answer the specific questions on the left and write your notes on the right. Share your completed Google Doc with your teacher so they can view it, then submit the link to your completed copy in this Canvas assignment.
How to read an entry requirement
For example, Tech Bowl allows one team of three people per chapter. Your notes would say that it is a team event with three people on the team. The number of teams a chapter may enter is a different limit.
What your notes should show
- Whether you compete individually or with a team, and how many people are allowed.
- The main things you prepare before the event, any knowledge test, and what you do in each round.
- This year’s challenge, or what will be announced later.
- Two scoring explanations in your own words and one important rule.
- Your interest in the event, a question you still have, and the source pages or sections you used.
Short notes are enough. Start with the event summary, then use the official documents to check your answers. If sources disagree, record your question and ask your teacher.
You do not need to design your entry, research supplies, or plan purchases yet.
