Team of 2–3 · Display, pamphlet, video, and possible interview
Medical Technology
Your team explains a medical condition and a technology used to address it.
What you make or do
- Create a static display explaining the condition, how it is diagnosed, and its effects on people and society.
- Design a folded, one-sheet patient information pamphlet about a medical technology that addresses the condition.
- Make a two-to-four-minute video explaining the technology for patients and families. Link it with a QR code on the pamphlet and include the required citations and consent documentation.
This year’s challenge
For 2027, choose a respiratory-related condition. Explain the condition in the display, then use the pamphlet and video to highlight a modern medical technology that addresses it.
How the competition works
Before the event
Research the condition and technology, complete the display and pamphlet, and make the linked video accessible before check-in.
First round
Submit the display and pamphlet with its video link. Judges evaluate displays first, then the pamphlets and videos from the highest-scoring displays to select semifinalists.
If you advance
Participate in a four-minute interview after one minute of setup. Team members should all take an active part.
Know before you choose: The display explains the medical problem; the pamphlet and video explain the technology. Judges must be able to open the video without requesting access, downloading it, or entering a password.
How your work is scored
Judges score the display, informational pamphlet, and multimedia video. Semifinalists also earn an interview score for explaining their research and technology.
