Individual · Marketing portfolio and possible on-site design challenge
Promotional Marketing
You will design a coordinated set of materials that promotes a TSA event.
What you make or do
- Create a promotional graphic, a wearable design, and digital signage that follows the year's event brief.
- Submit a marketing portfolio PDF containing the printable and wearable designs, a direct link to the digital presentation, supporting explanations for each design, and the required copyright and consent documentation.
- If you advance, create a new design for an on-site challenge and submit that solution as a PDF.
This year’s challenge
For 2027, promote Discover TSA: Open House & Recruitment Night at the fictional Edison Middle School. Design a print/social-media promotional graphic, a collectible chapter lapel pin, and an automatically advancing welcome presentation. Use the full brief for the school's colors, mascot, activities, and event details.
How the competition works
Before the event
Finish all three designs, make the digital presentation accessible, and submit the marketing portfolio by the official pre-conference deadline.
First round
Judges evaluate the submitted marketing portfolio to select semifinalists.
If you advance
After setup, complete, save, and submit a new layout and design solution as a PDF within one hour. Judges assess it without you present; no presentation or interview is listed.
Know before you choose: You submit the lapel pin design as part of the PDF portfolio. The official brief's weekday and date do not agree; ask your teacher to clarify that detail before putting the date into a finished design.
How your work is scored
Judges assess the print design, wearable design, digital signage, and supporting documentation. For semifinalists, they also score the new design's layout, response to the problem, effectiveness, and originality.
