Digital Photography

Tell a story in photographs.

Create a connected photo series using seven colors.

What you make or do

  • A series of seven connected color photographs.
  • A PDF portfolio with original and edited photos, descriptions, a theme explanation, equipment/resources, and any required consent forms.

This year’s challenge

Make seven connected photographs, one for each color in ROY G. BIV.

How the competition works

Before the event

Take and edit the seven photographs, assemble the required PDF portfolio, and submit it before the conference deadline.

First round

Submit your photo portfolio before the conference for judging.

If you advance

Take and edit a new photo series at the conference in two hours. Save it in a multimedia presentation on your laptop, then present and answer questions.

Know before you choose: You take and edit the photographs yourself. The portfolio includes your process, not just the final images.

How your work is scored

Judges look at your portfolio, composition, photographic skill, and connection to the theme.

Indigo 7. Violet The seven photos must all be connected by a single theme, story, location, subject, or idea. While each image should prominently feature its assigned color, the entire collection should feel like one cohesive series rather than seven unrelated photographs.
