Teacher Run Card: Capstone Close — Scholarship Profile Check-in

Daily Learning Contract

Topic: Scholarship search filtering

Objective: Students will apply grade-level filters to interpret which scholarship matches are relevant to their current eligibility.

TEKS: No independent Grade 8 Technology Applications TEKS claim. This lesson provides operational, preparatory, or cross-curricular evidence.

Demonstration of learning: Readable screenshot of grade-filtered Xello matches and one sentence naming a relevant match or explaining why the current results are limited.

Before class

  • Test Xello through ClassLink and prepare one projected navigation example.
  • Demonstrate a screenshot and upload without displaying student personal information to the class.
  • Reserve approximately 20 minutes after the capstone work is complete.

Five-part lesson flow

  1. Launch: Explain that this is a short closing check-in, not a capstone product or grade.
  2. Model: Navigate Goals & Plans, complete the profile, and filter matches by grade.
  3. Do: Students complete and filter independently.
  4. Verify: Check a filtered-results screen, not a student’s private responses, before upload.
  5. Evidence: Students upload a screenshot and resolve missing-profile or account issues.

Check before students leave

The Canvas submission contains a readable screenshot of grade-filtered Xello matches.

Support without lowering the thinking

Provide a click-path card with screenshots and seat students so private search results are not projected. Read navigation steps aloud and allow a trusted adult to help with account access without completing the profile for the student.
