WEEK 4 | TEACHER GUIDE

Preview the Unfamiliar Stop

Move from looking at a place to looking around one important stop. The same first-time visitor still comes first.

What students learn

A flat image controls what the viewer sees. A 360 image lets the viewer choose where to look. Students use that difference on purpose: they reopen their Welcome Mission and build a closer preview of one stop where a first-time visitor needs to look around.

Day 3: Learn and choose media

  1. Use the embedded Mashable video. Edpuzzle is an optional teacher-connected alternative.
  2. Compare a flat photo with a 360 scene. Ask what the viewer can see or control in each.
  3. Students reopen their Welcome Mission and choose one unfamiliar or important stop that deserves a closer look.
  4. Students select a ThingLink library image, a teacher-provided image, or a teacher-approved camera route. If the class skipped Welcome Mission, assign a shared visitor and place first.

Optional Edpuzzle setup

The Canvas assignment defaults to the embedded Mashable video so it works after a course copy. If you want questions, grading, or Live Mode, reconnect Edpuzzle in your own course:

  1. Open the reusable Edpuzzle lesson and copy it to My Content.
  2. In Canvas, edit the Day 3 assignment. Change Submission Type to External Tool, choose Find, select Edpuzzle, and pick your copied lesson.
  3. Save the assignment unpublished, then test it in Student View before assigning it.

Days 4 and 5: Build, test, revise

  1. Students build six tag jobs: Arrive, Find, Know, Do, Help, and Access or Avoid. Each tag needs a descriptive title and useful content.
  2. Require alt text for images and captions or a short transcript for audio/video.
  3. Partners test tag order, contrast, labels, and the audience share link.
  4. Students revise one weak tag or navigation choice and name that revision in the Canvas comment.

Projection support

Teach Slides 1 through 12. Slides 1 through 5 teach when a 360 image helps. Slides 6 through 10 reconnect the Welcome Mission, define the visitor need, teach the six tag jobs, and model the 360 file and tag requirements. Slides 11 and 12 move students into building and partner testing. Leave Slide 13 projected during work time on Days 4 and 5. The Canvas assignment remains the accessible and absence route.
