🚨 Research Rules / Reglas de Investigación
✅ YES – These count as sources
• News sites (Newsela, PBS, CNN10)
• Government sites (.gov – CDC, EPA, USDA)
• Organizations (Nat Geo, Feeding America, etc.)
• Encyclopedias (Britannica, not Wikipedia)
• Educational sites (.edu, .org)
❌ NO – These do NOT count
• “Google” (Google is a search engine, not a source)
• ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or any AI chatbot
• Google AI Overview (the box at the top of search)
• Wikipedia (use it to FIND sources, not as one)
• Random blogs, TikTok, YouTube comments
💡 “But I Found It on Google...”
When you Google something, you might see an AI Overview at the top. That box is written by AI – it pulls info from real websites but sometimes gets things wrong. Don’t copy from it. Don’t cite it.
What to do instead: Scroll past the AI box. Click on the actual articles below it. Read THOSE. That’s your real source.
Wikipedia trick: Wikipedia itself isn’t a source, but it can help. Scroll to the bottom of any Wikipedia page and look at the References section. Those links ARE real sources. Click them.
Cuando buscas en Google, el cuadro de “AI Overview” arriba NO es una fuente. Baja y haz clic en los artículos reales. Wikipedia tampoco es fuente, pero sus referencias al final sí lo son.

✍ How to Write Your Source in the Portfolio Doc
You don’t need fancy citations. Just write the website name and URL. That’s it.
Example / Ejemplo:
Source: CDC – Children’s Mental Health
URL: https://www.cdc.gov/children-mental-health/data-research/index.html
No necesitas citas formales. Solo escribe el nombre del sitio web y la dirección URL.
